Transport for Wales will be carrying out essential testing on overhead line equipment this weekend as part of preparations to introduce new tri-mode trains on the Coryton line this summer. As a result, there will be no train services on the Coryton line on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th April. Rail replacement services will be in operation, and tickets will be accepted on Cardiff Bus services from Coryton.

To ensure public safety during testing, a number of level crossings, footbridges and road bridges will be closed from 8am to 8pm on both days:

Level crossings and footbridges:

• Whitchurch level crossing (Pen-Y-Dre to Caedelyn Park)

• Ty Glas station level crossing

• Rhiwbina station footbridge

• Lisvane & Thornhill station footbridge

Road bridges:

• Highfield Road overbridge – closed to all traffic and pedestrians

• Heath Halt overbridge – closed to vehicles, open to pedestrians

Traffic management will be in place on Pantbach Road and Station Road near Llanishen station to manage access and maintain safe pedestrian routes.

Transport for Wales has released the following maps to show which crossings are affected and the best detours to use instead.
