Welsh Government confirmed on 30th January 2024 that their emergency funding support, the Bus Transition Fund (BTF) which replaced the Bus Emergency Funding Scheme (BES) between 25th July 2023 to 31st March 2024, is to be replaced by a new Bus Network Grant funding allocation.
This funding will enable Cardiff Council (and other local authorities) to contract and support socially necessary bus services for their areas in line with Section 63 of the Transport Act 1985.

The Council has been able to secure funding so that the bus services that were being withdrawn for parts of the day (early morning and evening services and sections of existing services) continue to be provided.
